Hear the pre-match thoughts of manager Jim Gannon ahead of this weekend’s big FA Cup tie away at Rochdale, as County look to cause an upset at Spotland.
With such short notice given for Wednesday night’s replay against Chesterfield, Jim spoke about the difficulties in planning properly for the last week, with the side going from having no game for 11 days to two games in just three days.
Reflecting on the performance on Wednesday though, Jim was really pleased to have the opportunity to get Saturday’s defeat to Weymouth out of the system and put right a lot of the wrongs from that day.
With several players missing out through injury and illness on Wednesday, the manager provided a promising update on the fitness of the squad ahead of Saturday’s game.
There was talk of tactics after a change in formation inspired Wednesday’s win, with Jim praising the versatility and flexibility of his squad.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game, the County boss is excited about the chance of measuring his side up against League One opposition, and was nostalgic in remembering some memorable previous visits to Spotland – with his first ever win as County manager coming there back in January 2006.
Former County Wembley Winner Jim McNulty now plies his trade for Rochdale, with the defender being described by Jim as one of his best signings for the Club from his first spell, and someone he was looking forward to catching up with at the game.
