Jim Gannon County Live Interview

Speaking with Chris Ridgway of 104.9 Imagine FM, manager Jim Gannon says Stockport County need to go and challenge second place Telford and get back “winning patterns”.

Following defeat to Boston last week, The Hatters find themselves 11th in the table having played nine games, but potentially could climb into a play off spot with a win against the high flyers at the weekend.

The trip is the first of many, with no more games scheduled at Edgeley Park for September meaning there is a lot of football to be played and the potential for a good feel to be generated before hosting Hereford in October.

In this week’s interview, Jim Gannon alludes to injuries in the squad having an affect, but makes no excuses for the start to the season, instead stating the Hatters must work hard to get back up the table.

Also in this week’s podcast, the manager gives injury updates on Paul Turnbull and Chris Smalley, while commenting on the return of Sam Minihan and Scott Duxbury. There is also talk of striker Frank Mulhern, who has been sporting noticeable strapping to his knee in recent weeks, leading some to question the fitness of the lively forward.

In their discussion post interview, host Martin Johnston and Chris Ridgway discuss the last game to Boston, the draw in the cup away to South Shields, and haircuts! The big question this week is, which Stockport County player can you name with a mullet?

Also discussed is usual “One to Watch” feature, the guys picking who could be this week’s key man for Stockport County.

As always, join Chris Ridgway and Jon Keighren this Saturday on 104.9 Imagine FM, or around the world on County Player for full coverage and commentary of Stockport County versus Telford, in the Vanarama National League North!
