Jonathan Smith named Head of Recruitment

The Club can announce that Jonathan Smith has been appointed as the Club’s new Head of Recruitment, after being promoted from his role as Lead Scout for the North.

Former Chorley assistant manager Jonathan was first appointed to the scouting team by the Club in the Summer, alongside Matt Jansen and Kevin Braybook. He takes up this new role with immediate effect, and will be replaced in his current role by Karl Newton.

Director of Football Simon Wilson said:

“We have been pleased with our recruitment overall to date, however realise that to improve further we have to become more detailed in our analysis and filtering of players. As such, we have identified the need for the new role which Jonathan has shown in his time here to date he is well placed for.

“In his role, Jonathan will manage our area scouts Kevin Braybrook in the South, and Karl Newton in the North, and be a more visible figure through the week at Carrington working closely with me, Simon Rusk and Damien Allen.”

Head of Recruitment Jonathan Smith said:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 12 months at County and would like to put on record my thanks and appreciation to everyone involved at the club for making me feel so welcome.

“The history of the club combined with the quality of infrastructure and investment makes this an exciting opportunity for myself personally. As a recruitment team we will be relentless in our pursuit of identifying the right targets in key areas, that will bring balance and quality to what is an already professional and talented group of players.”
