Paddy Madden has capped an outstanding October for his Club by being named as the League Two Player of the Month.
Paddy becomes the first County player to win the award since Greg Tansey back in December 2010, following an outstanding month that saw him score five and assist one in six League Two matches. His form has coincided with an upturn in results on the pitch too, with County losing just one of the seven games played in October.
It’s the first time the Irishman has picked up the award himself, although he was named League One Player of the Month during his time with Yeovil Town back in January 2013, when he scored six goals in just three games for the Glovers en-route to winning the division’s golden boot.
His recent form has seen him take his tally to 38 goals in just 80 appearances for the Club, as he seeks to become the first player to score 50 goals for County since Brett Angell in 1997.
On receiving the award, Paddy Madden said:
“I’m obviously delighted to be named as League Two Player of the Month. It’s always nice to receive individual praise but a big well done has to go to all my teammates and the staff at the Club. Without their great performances over the last month, winning an award like this wouldn’t have been possible so I just want to say a big thank you to them.
“Obviously the focus now is on keeping this run that we’re on going, making sure we have a good November and keep pushing up the league table.”
First-team manager Dave Challinor said:
“Delighted for Paddy to have won this award. It’s a reflection not just of his own good form in recent weeks, but the performances and form of the team as a whole as we’ve really started to find our feet at this level.
“Everybody will understandably look at the amount of goals and assists, and he’s been outstanding in that regard, but he offers us so much more than that in terms of his work rate and pressing off the ball – as our Captain, he is a real leader for us and sets the tone for the rest of the team.”
