You can now enjoy all the match action from Saturday’s thrilling late victory at Chesterfield, as an Alex Reid header sent County top of the National League table.
After a slow start from both sides, Mark Kitching sparked the game into life with a magnificent strike twenty minutes in, collecting the ball inside the area and drilling an effort into the top corner, on his weaker right foot.
County felt they should have had a penalty shortly after, as Liam Hogan’s close-range effort looked to be blocked on the line by the arm of defender Will Evans – the referee instead awarded a corner.
Despite County continuing to dominate, with Sam Minihan twice coming close, Chesterfield grabbed themselves an equaliser against the run of play ten minutes before half-time, a goalmouth scramble leading to Jordan Cropper firing home from the edge of the area.
County almost restored the lead just before half-time, Ash Palmer with a header from point-blank range that the Chesterfield ‘keeper somehow managed to turn over the bar.
Into the second period and a patient County continued to carve out opportunities, Man of the Match Minihan and Alex Reid both denied by good saves from the ‘keeper.
With just five minutes to go, County finally forced their way back in front – an almighty scramble seeing Connor Jennings hit the post, Bennett and Maynard both denied on the line before Reid flicked a header in from close range to see all three points for Jim Gannon’s side.
