Aaron Bannister has been selected as the match referee for Tuesday night’s Vertu Trophy Last 32 tie between County and Bradford City at Edgeley Park.
It will be just the third time the official has overseen a game involving County and the first time since 2018, when he refereed our 2-1 win at South Shields in the Emirates FA Cup as well as our 3-2 defeat away to Blyth Spartans in the National League North.
It will be his first time refereeing opponents, Bradford City, having only been promoted to the EFL as a referee over the Summer.
Bannister oversaw a total of 15 first-team games across all competitions last season, the majority of which came in the National League. In that time, he issued a total of 65 yellow cards, no red cards and awarded four penalty kicks.
Across the 14 games he has overseen so far during the 24/25 campaign, covering League One, League Two and the National League, he has shown a total of 53 yellow cards, three red cards and awarded one penalty. His most recent fixture came in the National League on November 30th, as he refereed Hartlepool United’s 0-0 draw with Barnet.
The Assistant Referees at Edgeley Park on Tuesday will be Paul Stonier and Scott Chalkley, whilst Andrew Ellis will be the Fourth Official.
