Referee Martin Woods has been selected to take charge of Tuesday night’s Cheshire derby between County and Crewe Alexandra at the Mornflake Stadium.
Woods took charge of the Boxing Day meeting between these two sides at Edgeley Park last season, which County won 2-0. It was one of two County games he oversaw in 2022/23, alongside our draw away at Gillingham in March, whilst he also refereed Crewe’s defeat at home to Mansfield Town.
The official took charge of 27 games in all competitions last season in what was his first campaign as an EFL referee. During that time, he issued 98 yellow cards, five red cards and awarded seven penalties.
Across the ten games he has officiated so far this season, Woods has shown 33 yellows, two reds and given three penalty kicks. His last game in charge came in League One on Saturday afternoon, as he oversaw Shrewsbury Town’s 1-0 win over Derby County, in which a penalty was awarded to the home side.
The Assistant Referees on Tuesday will be Thomas Harty and Ollie Williams, whilst Declan Ford will be the Fourth Official.
