Referee Darren Drysdale will take charge of Saturday’s League Two fixture between County and Newport County at Rodney Parade.
The official’s last game involving County came back in February, during our 3-1 win away at Harrogate Town in League Two – the only time he refereed us last season. He also oversaw Newport on two occasions in 2022/23 – a 2-1 win at Exeter in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, and a 3-1 win at Tranmere Rovers in League Two.
Drysdale, who is also a Sergeant in the RAF, oversaw 33 games in all competitions last season, the majority of which came in League Two. During that time, he issued 99 yellow cards, two red cards and awarded four penalties.
In the 11 games he has taken charge of so far this season, he has shown 45 yellows, one red and pointed to the penalty spot on five occasions. His last game came in the Emirates FA Cup last week, refereeing Peterborough United’s penalty-shootout victory over Salford City in a first-round replay.
The Assistant Referees in South Wales will be Grant Taylor and Chris Wade, whilst Justin Amey will be the Fourth Official.
