Match Officials confirmed for opening day

Sebastian Stockbridge has been confirmed as the match referee for Saturday’s season opener between County and Cambridge United at Edgeley Park.

Stockbridge has refereed County on 11 previous occasions, first doing so in a 2-0 win over Grimsby Town back in September 2011. More recently he refereed us twice last season, both times at Edgeley Park, overseeing our 1-1 draw with Bradford City and 2-1 win over Notts County in League Two.

The official also oversaw two Cambridge games last season, refereeing their 2-0 win away at Fleetwood in League One and a 4-0 win over the same opposition in the Emirates FA Cup.

In total Stockbridge took charge of 30 games across all competitions last season, the majority of which came in League Two. During that period, he issued 137 yellow cards, two red cards and awarded 17 penalties.

The Assistant Referees at Edgeley Park on Saturday will be Paul Newhouse and Thomas Cooke, whilst Stuart Morland will be the Fourth Official.
