Daniel Middleton has been selected as the match referee for Tuesday night’s clash between Stockport County and Shrewsbury Town in League One.
Middleton has refereed County on seven previous occasions, first doing so in a 2-0 Emirates FA Cup win over Bishop Auckland in October 2016. His most recent County fixture came on New Year’s Day, overseeing our 2-0 defeat at home to Mansfield Town in League Two.
An EFL referee since 2023, he refereed opponents, Shrewsbury twice last season, both in League One – a 2-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic and a 1-1 draw away at Charlton Athletic.
In total, the official took charge of 31 games in all competitions last season, during which time he issued 99 yellow cards, five red cards and awarded eight penalties.
So far this campaign, he has refereed five games across League One, League Two and the National League, showing 18 yellows, no reds and awarding three penalty kicks in that time. His last game came in League One last Tuesday, refereeing Leyton Orient’s 2-2 draw with Peterborough United.
The Assistant Referees at Croud Meadow will be Steven Plane and Conor Brown, whilst Martin Woods is on Fourth Official duties.
