County will be looking to book a trip to West Bromwich Albion in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup on Wednesday night, as we take on Aldershot Town in a replay – live on BBC Two.
A second-half equaliser from 19-year-old Josh Stokes sent this tie to a replay in the original game nine days ago, County denied having initially come from a goal down to lead the game 2-1
It was Stokes who put the National League side ahead on ten minutes, before a stunning 30-yard strike from Neill Byrne brought Dave Challinor’s side level just moments later. Paddy Madden’s goal 30 seconds into the second half put County ahead, only for the Shots to hit back on the counter to take the game to Edgeley Park.
Aldershot are looking to reach the third round of the competition for the first time since the 2012/13 season, whilst County are looking to reach that stage for the third time in the last four seasons – with a trip to the Hawthorns awaiting the winners.

Since we last met:
Aldershot’s cup run has come amidst a strong run of form that has lifted them up to 6th in the National League table, firmly in contention for the play-off places.
Prior to the tie at the EBB Stadium, they had won eight of their last ten games in all competitions, including that stunning 7-4 win at Swindon in the first round.
The Shots have played just once since the first meeting, as they travelled to fellow cup giant-killers Eastleigh in the Isuzu FA Trophy. After 90 minutes which saw the sides level at 2-2, it was a penalty shootout to decide the outcome with tomorrow’s visitors progressing, winning 5-4.
Match Stats:
- County have a strong record against the Shots at Edgeley Park, having lost just three of the previous 28 encounters between the two in SK3 – winning 14.
- Wednesday will be the third successive season we have been broadcast on national tv in the Emirates FA Cup, with our previous replay wins against Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic also shown live.
- County haven’t lost an FA Cup replay since the 2017/18 season, against FC United of Manchester.
