County will be looking to tighten their grip on the automatic promotion places on Monday night, as we travel to take on play-off chasing Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium.
A stirring second-half fight-back at Salford City on Thursday night saw County claim a point live on Sky, making it four games unbeaten for Dave Challinor’s side and lifting us back up into second – two points off leaders Mansfield with a game in hand.
The majority of League Two were in action elsewhere on Saturday afternoon, with mixed results for our promotion rivals. Mansfield extended their lead at the top to five points after winning 5-1 at Bradford City, whilst MK Dons moved level on points with the Hatters after a 3-1 win over fellow challengers, Crewe Alexandra.
Wrexham had the opportunity to move back above County in their game against rivals, Tranmere Rovers, but an early goal from Luke Norris consigned the Welsh side to another defeat. We therefore remain in 2nd place, with two games in hand on Mansfield, Wrexham and Crewe, and three games in hand on MK Dons – who we host at Edgeley Park next weekend.
Opponents Crawley, meanwhile, come into this game in fine form of their own. A 2-1 win over Notts County last Tuesday was a fifth victory in six games for the Red Devils, lifting them back into play-off contention with ten games to play. Another win on Monday would lift Scott Lindsey’s side back into the top seven at AFC Wimbledon’s expense.

Our Opponents:
These two sides played out a six-goal thriller at Edgeley Park back in September, as Tanto Olaofe’s late strike salvaged a point for County from a topsy-turvy encounter, in which we led 2-0 early on before trailing 3-2 in the second-half.

It formed part of a disappointing start to the campaign for the Hatters, leaving us in 20th with five points from our opening six games, but it would be another two months before we dropped points again after then embarking on that record-breaking 12-game winning run.
Crawley Town were pre-season favourites for relegation with the bookmakers after a turbulent 2022/23 campaign under new ownership, but have confounded their critics all season long to compete in the top half of the league table.
They had already claimed noticeable wins against Bradford City and MK Dons before that point at Edgeley Park, and four straight wins immediately after saw them sitting in 2nd place with 20 points from their opening ten games of the campaign.
They struggled to maintain that pace through the autumn and winter months, however, picking up just ten points from 12 games from October through to Boxing Day, slipping into the bottom half of the table in the process.
They have continued to show glimpses of what they are capable of at their best under former Swindon boss Lindsey, who has been in charge for over a year now, winning away at both Gillingham and Bradford City over the festive period.

Three straight losses to Salford, Morecambe and Crewe look to have put an end to any hope of a top seven finish in February, but the Sussex side have been revitalised in recent weeks. They come into this game having won five of their last six games in League Two, conceding just three goals, and beating potential play-off rivals in AFC Wimbledon, Harrogate and Notts County.
With ten games left they sit in 10th place on 55 points, already nine more than they picked up in the whole of last season. An 18th win of the season on Monday would lift them into those top seven places, with games in hand still to play on the sides around them as they bid for a return to League One for the first time since 2015.
Match Stats:
- Monday will be just the fourth meeting between these two sides, who had never met before last season. Both teams have one win each from the previous three encounters.
- Crawley Town have drawn just four games in the league this season, the fewest of any side in League Two and joint-fewest in the EFL alongside Leicester City.
- Tanto Olaofe now has 18 league goals for the season after his strike at Salford on Thursday night. He is bidding to become the first County player to score 20 league goals in an EFL campaign since Luke Beckett in 2002/03.
