Mather to referee Blackpool trip

Referee Simon Mather is set to take charge of Saturday’s League One clash between County and Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

Mather first refereed County back in September 2016, overseeing our 3-2 win away at Altrincham in the National League North. He has taken charge of ten further games involving County since, last doing so back in April in our 4-2 win over Accrington Stanley at Edgeley Park – the day we lifted the League Two title.

He also refereed Blackpool on one occasion last season, taking charge of their 1-0 defeat away at Stevenage in February.

That was one of 36 games he took charge of across all competitions last season, mainly in League One and League Two. During that time, Mather issued 182 yellow cards, ten red cards and awarded five penalties.

His first game of the new campaign came in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, overseeing Huddersfield Town’s 3-0 win over Morecambe – a game in which a red card was shown to Morecambe’s Kayden Harrack.

The Assistant Referees at Bloomfield Road on Saturday will be Conor Brown and Kevin Mulraine, whilst John Mulligan will be the Fourth Official.
