Our dedicated pre-season fixture to commemorate our 140th anniversary this year will see us take on Championship side Preston North End, on a day of celebration at Edgeley Park.
The game is set to be our final pre-season fixture ahead of the 2023/24 season, to be played on Saturday 29th July in a 3pm kick-off, as we go up against one of the founder members of the Football League. Preston finished 12th in the Championship last season under former County striker Ryan Lowe, and are sure to provide tough opposition ahead of the start of the League Two season.
It will also be the second of a double-header at Edgeley Park that weekend, with another game against Championship opposition set to take place on the Friday night. Full details on that game will be announced in due course.
2023 is a special year for Stockport County Football Club, marking 140 years since our formation as Heaton Norris Rovers in 1883, and we’ll be celebrating our long and illustrious history during this game with a family fun day at Edgeley Park.
A whole host of County players from down the generations will invited to join us on the day, in association with the Stockport County Players Association, as we pay tribute to their contributions to our football club and celebrate their place in our history.
For one time only, The Hatters will also be wearing a limited-edition commemorative kit for this game, which pays tribute to the club’s history and beginnings as Heaton Norris Rovers. The kit will be revealed over the coming months, with a limited number also being made available for supporters to purchase.
We hope to make this a memorable occasion for players and supporters alike; one that captures and celebrates what makes Stockport County so unique and so special to be a part of. More details on tickets and the entertainment available on the day will be announced in the coming weeks – stay tuned to our social media channels!
