Recap: County Awards Evening

It was a glorious night of celebration at Edgeley Park on Saturday, as County’s title-winning heroes returned from their triumphant visit to Nuneaton for their Annual Awards Evening, as we payed tribute to their incredible season.

In a season of so many outstanding individual performances, the Main award for the night went to County number 10 Matty Warburton, who saw off competition from Sam Walker and Ash Palmer to pick up the Graeme White Player of the Year Award after an outstanding season that saw him score 27 goals, with Paul Turnbull collecting the Award on his behalf.

It was a busy afternoon for Matty, who sadly could not be present due to attending a close friend’s wedding, as he also – rather more predictably – picked up the Top Goalscorer Award.

County’s Players’ Player of the season – the first of its kind in the club’s history – was picked up by a delighted Sam Walker, following a superb season from the man they call the ‘Bredbury Busquets’ as he ran County’s midfield.

It was double delight for Jamie Stott, with the Oldham loanee picking up both the Harry Hardy and George Haigh Young Player of the Year awards for another outstanding season, beating Scott Duxbury, Nyal Bell and Frank Mulhern to the trophies.

It was a close-run thing when choosing County’s Goal of the Season Award, with the trophy going to Frank Mulhern for his memorable control and finish against Altrincham on Boxing Day, a goal that will certainly live long in the memory.

The award for Ladies Player of the Year went to County’s leading goalscorer Chloe Mapp following another prolific season, with 42 goals in 29 games to date helping the Ladies Treble charge!

Sam Minihan deservedly picked up the Community Foundation Recognition Award, for his fantastic effort and commitment in his coaching work for the Community Club of the Year.

Finally, the Volunteer of the Year Award, which was awarded collectively to Help the Hatters, for their continued outstanding work in supporting the club year in, year out.

Once again we’d like to issue a special thanks to the Evening’s Sponsors, without whom we would not have been able to enjoy the fantastic night it went on to be.

Congratulations to all the winners, and to all the players for a fantastic night and unforgettable season!
