Referee Watch: County v Stevenage

Experienced referee Robert Madden has been selected to take charge of Saturday’s League Two fixture between County and promotion rivals Stevenage at Edgeley Park.

The Scottish referee has already refereed County once this season, overseeing our 0-0 draw away at Tranmere Rovers in November. It will be his first time refereeing Stevenage, having only joined the EFL as a referee in the Summer having previously officiated in the Scottish Premiership. He also has experience of refereeing overseas in Greece, as well as Europa League and Champions League and international fixtures.

Madden took charge of 40 games in all competitions last season across Scotland, Greece, the Europa League and the Nations League, issuing 119 yellow cards and three red cards.

So far this campaign, he has refereed 20 games across League One (9), League Two (6), the Carabao Cup (2), Papa John’s Trophy (2) and the FA Cup (1), showing 58 yellows and four reds. His last game was overseeing Northampton Town 0-0 Walsall on Saturday 4th February, in which he showed a red card to Northampton’s Ali Koiki.

He will be assisted on the day by David Avent & Matthew Parry, whilst Paul Marsden will be the Fourth Official.
