Referee Thomas Parsons has been selected to take charge of Tuesday night’s huge League Two fixture between County and Carlisle United at Brunton Park.
Parsons was promoted to the EFL as a referee over the Summer, having spent last season in the National League. He refereed us on three separate occasions last year, overseeing home defeats to both Barnet and Boreham Wood, as well as our 2-0 win away at Aldershot Town. It will be his second time this season officiating a game involving Carlisle, having also been in charge for their 3-2 defeat to Leyton Orient in October.
The official took charge of 16 first-team fixtures in total last season, during which time he issued 55 yellow cards, four red cards and awarded one penalty. Two of those red cards came during our meeting with Barnet at Edgeley Park, in which both sides finished the game with ten men – Macauley Southam-Hales sent off for County.
So far this campaign he has refereed 25 games in all competitions, the majority in League Two, during which time he has shown 113 yellows, four reds and pointed to the penalty spot twice. His last game came on Good Friday, as he oversaw Mansfield’s 4-2 win away at Swindon in League Two.
He will be assisted on the day by Johnathon Bickerdike and Bradley Hall, with Simon Clayton taking up the Fourth Official duties.
