Following a season that saw the Club achieve its highest league finish since 2002, and set a new club-record points tally in the third tier, we would like to thank each departing player for their contributions over the course of the campaign.

We extend special thanks to Kyle Knoyle for his vital role in our League Two title success during the 23/24 season – our first EFL title in 57 years. Kyle made 81 appearances over two-and-a-half years at Edgeley Park, after joining from Doncaster Rovers for an undisclosed fee. We wish him and Cody all the best in the next chapter of their careers.

At this stage, the Club remain in talks with several first-team players whose contacts expire this Summer, and we will update supporters on those situations in the coming weeks.

Club CEO, Simon Wilson said:

“A huge thank you to the playing group who have collectively delivered a fantastic performance over the course of the season.  We are so proud of every single one of them and so grateful to what they have brought to this team.

“As everyone knows, this time of the season is when decisions are taken regarding the future make-up of the team, and therefore sadly we have to say goodbye to some of the group.

“You couldn’t wish to meet a more dedicated and professional pair of players in Cody Johnson and Kyle Knoyle, and whilst both players could easily be retained, we feel they may be able to secure better terms and playing opportunities elsewhere.

“Both have contributed hugely to the Club and are forever part of our history.

“We are in dialogue with several others regarding next steps and as soon as we have conclusive decisions we will update further. I appreciate fans (as we are) will be keen to see players commit, however deals must suit all parties and we all must respect the players’ positions as they consider options.”
