Right-back Macauley joined the Club in the Summer of 2020 on a two-year-deal, signing from Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.
Having spent 12 years as a junior in Cardiff City’s academy, the 24-year old moved to Barry Town before joining Fleetwood in January 2019.
Macauley also enjoyed a loan spell Hartlepool United last season, making his debut against County and playing a key part in their 2-0 victory over us in February. Having impressed during his time in the North-East, he was identified as a key Summer transfer target by then Pools boss Dave Challinor, before ultimately making the move to Edgeley Park.
Despite having to wait a while before having a run in the team due to injury, Macca finished his first season at the Club in terrific form with several breathtaking displays down the right hand side. He finished the season having made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice – including a stunner on his left foot against title rivals Torquay.
The Welshman played a further 33 times in 2021/22 as the Club won the National League title, providing nine assists from right-wing-back.
His first season back in the Football League with the club was cruelly cut short by injury, limiting him to just 13 appearances – the last of which came on Boxing Day.
Macca, now the second-longest serving player at the club after Ben Hinchliffe, has since recovered from those injuries and is into his fourth season as a County player.
