Striker joins on loan deal

We are pleased to announce the signing of German forward Kenan Dünnwald-Turan on a one-month loan from Scunthorpe United.

The 25-year-old joined Scunthorpe in 2020, having previously spent time with Bristol Rovers, as well as representing several clubs in his home country; including FC Kaan-Marienborn, Wuppertaler SV, SC Fortuna Koln and Bonner SC.

The 6ft 2in striker made his Football League debut for Bristol Rovers back in 2017, coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat to Portsmouth in League One. His time at Scunthorpe has so far seen him make a total of five appearances for the Iron.

He now makes the temporary move to Edgeley Park to support the squad following the injury to striker Scott Quigley. Kenan will wear the number 23 during his time at the Club, and will be available for this today’s home game against Yeovil Town.

Director of Football Simon Wilson said:

“It’s clear that following Scott’s injury, we miss the qualities of an ‘all-round’ number 9, which are integral to getting the best out of our attacking players. In this time we have been active in the market looking for a solution while Simon has been creative in his team selection.

“Unfortunately, due to several factors, not least the supply/demand dynamic for this type of player, we have encountered a difficult time trying to recruit at all, let alone at fair value. We have therefore gone in a different direction with this signing.

“Kenan has demonstrated several times over he has very interesting qualities, which have resulted in permanent contracts with EFL clubs. He arrives hungry to prove himself now at this level which we believe in turn can help the team in this next period, before Scott is successfully rehabilitated and integrated back into the squad.”
