Stockport County are pleased to announce the latest Stockport company to get involved with the club, as Project Solar UK agree to be the sponsor of the team’s brand new away shirt for the 2018-19 season.
During a chance conversation with Commercial Department Executive Zahra Fattah, she invited the company to a match as a guest of the club. They enjoyed the experience so much that they promised to do some kind of sponsorship for the next season. True to their word, one short meeting later saw Tom Armstrong and Ben Thorp wholeheartedly agree to take on the vacant shirt sponsorship.
The group’s National Sales Director and partner within the organisation, Tom has really championed the decision for the company to sponsor Stockport County. “Project Solar is the largest domestic installer of solar panels in the UK and we proud to be a trusted trader and offer award-winning service.
“We have two main businesses premises, one of which is in Reddish, employing more than 100 local staff members. I have been a fan for many years and look back at watching Jim Gannon on the other side of the line with Mike Flynn, Alun Armstrong and co. We hope that our sponsorship helps Jim and the boys along to a fantastic year.
“It would be great to see local talent thrive and the community benefit from our involvement. We passionately believe in helping everyone achieve better energy sources and taking advantage of a feed-in tariff payment scheme to help with the cost of installing solar panels. Whether people just want to find out if Solar will benefit them or wish to have a look at costings and savings, we’re a local company offering it all.”
County Commercial Manager Simon Dawson said: “Tom and Ben could not have been more forthcoming. From a chat around the table following the Chorley Play-Off game, we came away with something positive from the night. Just a few days later, and knowing that the kit sponsorship was available, it seemed obvious to us that Project Solar might be interested.
“The second meeting at their offices in Houldsworth Mill was very straightforward as the lads are keen football fans and, after a brief look at the package options, they were more than happy to commit to the County cause. It would be great to see our fans benefit from what they have to offer as well.”
Our striking new away shirt goes on sale later this month.
