Supporters’ Co-Op announce ‘Meet the Sculptor’ evening at EP

The Stockport County Supporters’ Co-operative have announced plans for a ‘Meet the Sculptor’ event at Edgeley Park this Thursday, as plans continue for a statue to be made in honour of legendary manager Danny Bergara.

See below for a full statement from the Co-Op on the event:

The Supporter’s Co-operative and Help the Hatters recently commissioned award-winning sculptor, Hannah Stewart to design a full life size bronze statue of County’s legendary former Uruguayan manager, Danny Bergara.

We have invited Hannah to Edgeley Park on Thursday 29th September, so fans can have the opportunity to Meet the Sculptor. This is a free of charge event, which will take place in the Hardcastle Suite, doors at 19:00. There will be a grand raffle (tickets priced at £5), which will include some fantastic prizes.

Hannah will be providing a presentation on her portfolio, which includes the first female professional footballer Lily Parr and the process of creating a statue from start to finish. Supporters will have the first chance to see Hannah’s sketches of Danny. There will also be the opportunity for a question-and-answer session.

The evening will be hosted by Steve Bellis and Nick Lee and we will be joined by some of Danny’s former players who will be sharing their stories and memories.

At the Walsall game on Saturday 1st October, there will be a collection before the game as we hope to close in our target of £50,000 to fund the statue.
