Very Busy Half Term Week Of Community Activities For Children Throughout Stockport!

Last week saw a very busy five days of Half-Term provision of community activities for our Community Foundation team, that saw them engage with over 450 children and young people in and around Stockport.

The Foundation has delivered their very popular week-long Soccer School at Moorfield Primary School in Hazel Grove, and attracted up to 50 children each day.

All the children were supported by our excellent team of community coaches throughout the week, as well as County players and Foundation coaches Sam Minihan and Paul Turnbull who joined us on Wednesday & Thursday.

The week culminated in the Soccer Schools finale, which saw competitions and a presentation, with everyone receiving a Family Ticket to attend one of our remaining home fixtures this season.

In addition to the Soccer School, the Community Foundation and their coaches have been delivering ‘drop in’ football park sessions throughout the borough of Stockport, allowing children to come along and keep active during the week. These sessions were organised in partnership with Life Leisure and Groundwork UK, who provided the vital funding that allowed the team to deliver three parks sessions each day.

Another activity being delivered was a four day ‘Respect’ course at Dial Park Primary School in Offerton. This was a mixture of practical football sessions, also focusing on the theory aspect, highlighting the importance of ‘Respect’ in Sport. This course was fully booked with 32 children attending daily.

Take a look at the video below from the Soccer School at Moorfield Primary School, and see the positive impact the work our Community Foundation is having upon Children, young people and adults throughout Stockport and beyond.
