Recently Club staff and our colleagues at weekly draw partners NYCDA were delighted to welcome long standing County fan Steve O’Connell to Edgeley Park for a photo opportunity and cheque presentation. Having supported the club home and away for over 60 years it was fantastic to hear more about his passion for all things Stockport County and what he will do with his £2500 winnings.
As a longstanding season ticket holder, who attends matches with his daughter, Steve can be found behind the dug-outs in the main stand. When chatting with Steve, he spoke passionately about his hopes for the coming season, as well as his many memories of following football over the last six decades.
Having played a part in Club history by coaching the County Ladies side of the 2000s and currently residing nearby in Heaviley, four Wembley trips stand out in Steve’s memories. It was an early cup run in the 1960s where County faced the likes of Bristol Rovers and Liverpool that saw the start of Steve’s love of all things County. Steve’s excited to see his favourite player, Ryan Croasdale on the pitch this season and he’s planning on using his winnings to fund as many County away trips as possible.
All proceeds from this partnership with the NYCDA Weekly Draw continue to generate funds for County Community Trust’s Health and Well Being programme. Steve was delighted to find out a little more on the Club’s community work and how he is playing a part in raising funds for the County Community Trust.
