We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Kyle Knoyle from Doncaster Rovers, for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old, a League Two promotion winner during his time at Cambridge United, has signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Edgeley Park, becoming our fourth signing of the January transfer window.
An attacking right-back with over 150 EFL appearances to his name, Kyle actually began his career at West Ham United, making his full debut for the Hammers against FC Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League Third Qualifying Round, under manager Slaven Bilic.
Loan spells at Dundee United and Wigan Athletic followed, before making the permanent move to Swindon Town in August 2017.
He made 69 appearances over two seasons at the County Ground, becoming a key player in his second season with the Robins before making the move to Cambridge United, then of League Two.
His second season at Cambridge proved to be the most successful of his career so far, playing in 44 of their 46 league games as the Club finished 2nd in League Two, with Kyle’s performances earning him a place in the EFL League Two Team of the Season.
A move to Doncaster followed that Summer, and although he was unable to keep them up in League One he made over 50 appearances in his first season at the Keepmoat, and this season has quickly re-established himself as one of the most outstanding defenders in the division.
Kyle will wear the number #3 for the remainder of this season, and is available to face Northampton Town in tomorrow’s League Two fixture at Edgeley Park.
