Stockport County Football Club joins the EFL in welcoming the arrival of the Football Governance Bill in Parliament.
Creating a level playing field, where clubs throughout the EFL get a fair distribution of funds is key to the long-term financial sustainability of the EFL. For too long the beautiful game has been broken by an outdated financial model.
Establishing an Independent Football Regulator with powers to create positive change, help redistribute finance and ensure professional clubs continue to serve their communities is imperative to Football’s long-term stability.
Football clubs are a key pillar to the local community that they serve, so we fully support the bill’s aim to improve governance and provide all clubs with a fair and competitive environment where everyone can thrive in the future.
