As part of our ‘Celebrating Success’ series at Stockport County Academy, we caught up with our February Player of the Month winner: Ethan Robson. In the interview, Academy Welfare Officer Ryan Jones spoke with Alex about his recent performances, Academy life and his targets for the season with Stockport County.
So, Ethan, congratulations on winning February’s Player of the Month. How do you feel?
ER: I’m happy that my hard work has been recognised on the pitch, hopefully I can continue my current performances and push on from here!
Ethan you have been getting quite a lot of praise recently from your coach Tony Coyne, how does that make you feel to hear compliments like that from your coach?
ER: Hearing the praise from my coach helps me to stay motivated and makes me want to keep pushing on and stay a key member of the team.
So, Ethan, the end of your second year is fast approaching. What are you looking to do at the end of your time here, what will be your next steps? A career in sport perhaps?
ER: To be honest I’m not quite sure what I’m going to be doing next year just yet, as there are many options to choose from. Hopefully, I will continue being able to play football whether that’s on a scholarship abroad or in England.
With your time here at the academy so far, what would you say has been your favourite moment?
ER: I think the whole experience has been my favourite moment. Being able to play football every single day has been a great opportunity and I have loved every minute.
And lastly Ethan, what are your expectations and targets for the rest of the season?
ER: My squad that I play for is currently pushing for the title, hopefully we will be able to see the good form out until the end of the season and pick up some silverware!
Thanks Ethan! It’s been great catching up with you today, and we’re all looking forward to seeing how you get on for the rest of the season!
