The Stockport County Academy is delighted to announce the signing of nine EFL Scholars for the Professional Development Phase, ahead of the 2022/23 season following the promotion of the club to the Football League.
At an induction evening held at Edgeley Park on Friday 1st July the players and their parents were able to officially meet all the Academy coaching, teaching and support staff, as well as sign their scholarship contract and take part in signing photos.
During the event they learned about the two year programme which they will be taking part in, with the aim of winning their first professional contract. The scholarship will combine training and competitive EFL games with education and an academic qualification through the League Football Education Scheme.

Academy Manager Damien Allen said:
“This is our first scholarship group in over eleven years at the club. It is an exciting group of players who will receive great support from an expert team of staff. Looking forward, the Academy’s main aim now is to develop these players both on and off the pitch so that we can provide our first team with not only exciting young footballers, but with great young people as well.”
