We are pleased to announce that defender Akil Wright has signed a new two-year deal with the club, keeping him at Edgeley Park until 2025.
Aki joined County on a free transfer from York City last Summer, shortly after helping the Minstermen to promotion from the National League North via the play-offs.
The 27-year-old has spent most of his career playing in midfield, but was moved to the right of County’s back three under Dave Challinor last season – a move that proved to be a masterstroke, as Aki impressed with his consistent displays and rampaging runs forward from the back. He finished the campaign having made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.
His original deal was set to expire at the end of this season, but he has now extended his stay in SK3 as preparations continue for the 2023/24 campaign.
