County defender Ash Palmer was in charge of our Twitter account yesterday afternoon for the second of our live Q&A sessions, covering a wide range of topics.
Missed it? See below for all his answers, and catch up on how it went:
Q: Alice (12) would like to know what you’re doing to train during lockdown, thanks! #AskAsh
A: I’ve been running mainly at a park near where I live and done some long road runs too to try and keep my fitness up.
Q: Do you have a target of how many headers you score every season?
A: I try to aim for 5 goals a season usually.
Q: Have you managed to get Dan Cowan back for this interview yet? #AskAsh

A: I’ve got enough photos on my phone to ruin Dan Cowan!
Q: #AskAsh Ash are you aware of how many County fans bet on you to score, and how many Saturday nights your goals have paid for?
A: Yeah I often get told before games when people have a bet too. No pressure!
Q: Will you consider staying and going full time next season?
A: It’s always been an ambition of mine to get back into full-time football. That’s one of the reasons why I joined the club.
Q: Faith would like to know if she can have your blue boots from this season, and also if you’ll come to her birthday party? #AskAsh
A: She can have them at the end of the season no problem.
Q: What’s the best CB partnership you’ve ever played in? #AskAsh
A: After the record we had last year, got to be Jamie Stott!
Q: #AskAsh how often to speak to team-mates? Do you keep in contact with ex team-mates?
A: The group chat is pretty lively at the minute, Danny Lloyd has been keeping the boys entertained! I also try to keep in contact with quite a few people I’ve played with.
Q: What did scoring that first goal at Nuneaton feel like? #AskAsh
A: Like this!

Q: #AskAsh – apart from the title winning game at Nuneaton, which game stands out for you during your time at County?
A: Wrexham or Cheser away.
Q: #AskAsh hi Ash, why didn’t you follow your dad and play Rugby League?
A: I’ve got more sense than that!
Q: #AskAsh what’s it been like playing alongside a young lad in Festus Arthur this season? How good can he be?
A: It’s been a good year for Festus. He’s a good lad and wants to learn. If he continues to work hard he’s got an exciting future ahead of him.
Q: What’s it like to walk out to a packed Edgeley Park? #AskAsh
A: We all feel lucky to be playing in front of a great set of supporters every week.
Q: Who’s the best player at the club to whip a ball onto your magic head?
It’s a toss up between Sam Walker and Paul Turnbull. Oh, and Liam Hogan!
Q: #AskAsh three questions: 1) What’s Jim like in training? 2) Why did you choose to come to County? 3) Favourite drink? From Rowan, aged 10.
A: 1) He’s very calculated in what he wants from the session 2) I saw it as a good opportunity to progress in my career 3) Apple juice.
Q: If the season does resume – are we going up, and would that top winning the League last year? #AskAsh
A: We were in good form before the season got suspended. Hopefully when the season continues we can carry that on and sneak into the play-offs, then who knows?
Q: What do you miss most about not playing at the moment? #AskAsh
A: The match day feeling. It’s been very strange the last few weeks waking up on a weekend without football.
Next up on our live Q&A will be the one and only Sam Walker, at the same time next Monday. Head over to Twitter and follow us @StockportCounty to take part!
