During the Easter holidays, Stockport County Community Trust were delighted to offer families in Stockport the opportunity to access free holiday provision.
In what was a busy period for the Trust, we were able to offer over 200 primary school children the opportunity to attend our Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme, during the first week of the Easter holidays at Dial Park Primary School, Offerton. The course offered families whose children were eligible to receive free school meals, free holiday provision and food during the week.
Throughout the four days, the young people took part in a variety of different fun activities which ranged from sport sessions, art and craft activities, a forest school session and the chance to learn about healthy eating. The programme also included a trip to the Manchester Science and Industry Museum where the children were delighted to be met by Stockport County players, Akil Wright and Jack Stretton.
During the second week of the holidays, we then rolled out this provision for young people aged 11-16 and offered a football-based programme at the Stockport Power League complex. The week also included a behind the scenes ground tour at Edgeley Park.
In addition to both these programmes, the Trust continued to offer our popular free County in the Park sessions throughout Stockport. These sessions aimed to increase physical activity in a fun and safe environment along with reducing anti-social behaviour.
