Club introduce new bag policy at Edgeley Park

As we continue to evolve our matchday operation, the club have now introduced a new bag policy at Edgeley Park.

To make Edgeley Park safe for everyone, there are restrictions on both the types/size of bags that can be brought into the ground and what can be brought in your bag, into the stadium.

The move follows other new introductions such as our in-game text-message service and ‘keep me safe’ child wristbands, all designed to make Edgeley Park a safe and enjoyable place to come and watch football.

What’s allowed?
Each person can only bring one small bag, and it must not be bigger than A4 size:

  • Height 297mm (11.7 inclhes)
  • Width 210mm (8.27 inches)
  • Depth 210 (8.27 inches)

Please note this means the overall bag size. Bags that are half-full and folded over to reduce their size will not be accepted. If there’s a query on size, a bag gauge will be used.

Why does the stadium have a bag policy?

By limiting the size and style of bags people can carry in, our bag policy enhances safety inside and outside the stadium. All bags are subject to a search on entry. This can cause delays at the turnstiles, so we discourage you from bringing a bag at all if possible and allow additional time for entry.

How is this good for fans?

Safety is paramount and part of how we maintain this is by limiting the size and style of bags allowed into Edgeley Park. The policy is designed to prevent people from bringing in dangerous and illegal items that could harm others.

What about official merchandise?

Any matchday merchandise you buy will be supplied in a Stockport County plastic bag and can be brought into the stadium.

Will my bags be inspected?

Yes. All items and bags carried by spectators and staff will be carefully inspected when entering the stadium. This may include an electronic wanding or pat down.

Are there an exceptions to the bag policy, such as medical reasons?

We do make exceptions for medical equipment, but you must get permission in advance. If this applies to you, please contact our SLO Team, ahead of the event day. If you’re eligible, you’ll then be given a certificate proving you’re allowed to take specific items into the stadium. You will need to show this certificate to security.

These are all accepted proof of eligibility for Medical Exemption Certificates:

  • A statement of higher or middle rate disability living allowance (DLA).
  • Receipt of either the Severe Disablement Allowance or Attendance Allowance.
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
  • Qualifying annual uprating letter.
  • The Access Card (details available from www.accesscard.org.uk).
  • Registration document which certifies that you are Registered Blind or Partially Sighted.
  • Veterans Agency letter confirming War Disablement Pension.
  • A personal letter outlining your access requirements from your hospital specialist (within reasonable date).
  • If resident outside the UK, please use equivalent documentation.

Please note we consider each application on a case-by-case basis.

Are cameras, smart phones or tablets allowed in if they’re not in my bag?

Yes. A phone or camera can be carried into the stadium, but not in its own bag. In other words, you can bring these things in, if you still only have one bag in total that meets the policy.

Are handbags allowed?

Yes, as long as it’s smaller than A4 and meets the above bag policy.

What items are prohibited?

Prohibited Items Include:

  • Oversized bags
  • Weapons
  • Air horns
  • Narcotics
  • Fireworks or flares
  • Cans or glasses
  • Long-lens/professional cameras
  • Long umbrellas
  • Alcohol and glass bottles
  • Selfie sticks

Please be advised there is no facility for Bag Drops at this present time.

We thank you for your support and compliance with this policy and look forward to welcoming you to Edgeley Park.
