Community Trust giving away free books at Edgeley Park this Saturday

The County Community Trust is delighted to be able to give away 200 free, brand-new books to young County readers ahead of our fixture vs Doncaster, as part of an exciting partnership between Premier League Primary Stars and the National Literacy Trust to celebrate World Book Day.

The partnership will enable 27,000 free books to be distributed to schools across England and Wales which will hopefully generate a love for reading amongst children, as the National Literacy Trust research has found that children who own their own books are nearly three times more likely to enjoy reading.

Stockport County also supported the Footy and Booky World Book Day Quiz which took place this morning, hosted by children’s authors and featuring some famous faces from the world of football including our very own Joe Lewis.

Alison Warwood, CEO of County Community Trust said,

“We were delighted to be asked to partner with the National Literacy Trust and the Premier League Primary Stars programme around this project. World Book Day celebrates the power and joy of reading. We know that children who have books at home do better in school, so we are delighted we are going to be able to distribute such an incredible number of books on Saturday before our important home fixture”.

To claim your free book, just visit one of the two stations positioned in the County Courtyard and the Together Stand between 1.30pm and 2.00pm where the County Community Trust team will be delighted to hand your new book over to you.
