Community Trust relaunch Primary School Assembly Programme

Stockport County Community Trust, in partnership with finance company and club sponsor, Together, is delighted to announce the re-launch of its popular primary school assembly programme.

The primary school roadshow will engage youngsters across Stockport with a fun and educational session which also provides free tickets for those attending the assembly to come and watch Stockport County.

The new format of the assembly was launched this season with visits local schools. The session looks at the heritage of Stockport County and celebrates the history of the town along with famous Stopfordians. Children also get to take part in a number of fun interactive games and competitions.

As part of the assembly, the youngsters enjoy an appearance from club mascot Vernon Bear who provides all the children in attendance with a special ‘Vernon’s Golden Ticket’ to see Stockport County in action and the session is finished with a special message from our club captain, Paddy Madden.

Dave Wardle, County Community Trust Operations Manager said:

“It has been fantastic to be able to visit our first primary schools last week with Vernon Bear and our assembly team. The reaction to the presentation was brilliant and all the children were fully engaged throughout, particularly enjoying the head-to-head cheering challenge, alongside learning about the history of our club and town.

“Connecting with the local community and engaging children from a young age with sport is so important for their development and we know that many County fans first started supporting County after attending one of our assemblies and receiving a free ticket to come and watch the game.

“We can’t wait to work with more local schools in the future and seeing the pupils cheering County on from the Together stand throughout the season.”
