Community Trust targets borough’s deprived communities in new three-year strategy

Stockport County Community Trust, the official charity of Stockport County FC, has launched a new three-year strategy to help tackle inequalities across the borough.

One of the country’s most polarised towns, deprived areas of the borough such as Brinnington suffer from huge disparities in the quality of life compared to its more affluent areas such as Bramhall, where life expectancy for men is ten years longer.

Empowering lives off the pitch, the three-year vision will engage these more vulnerable communities, covering four areas of focus to help address inequalities by improving physical health, supporting mental wellbeing, improving educational attainment, and using the power of Stockport County to build stronger and more engaged communities.

Alongside establishing the mission and purpose of the charity, the Community Trust has also set out a clear set of values, vowing to be inclusive in its approach, caring about the people it seeks to support and brave in setting and following its goals in order to make a difference.

Alison Warwood, Stockport County Community Trust Chief Executive said:

“Stockport is in many respects enjoying a boom, as re-investment into the area and regeneration takes place. During this time, it’s important that the borough’s most vulnerable areas don’t get forgotten, further polarising the town and its people, and with it their outcomes. The Community Trust will be playing its part in inspiring, supporting and empowering these people and areas over the next three years, helping to make a positive impact.”
