Stockport County players past and present came together in July to help celebrate the club’s 140th anniversary at Edgeley Park.
A host of County legends were in attendance as the club marked this special anniversary during the club’s pre-season friendly against founding Football League members, Preston North End. The players present represented every decade dating back to the 1960s, celebrating each different era, including:
- Alan Ogley
- Mike Flynn
- Oshor Williams
- Les Chapman
- Freddie Goodwin
- Kayode Odejayi
- Steve Bullock
- Bill Williams
- Tom Bennett
- Liam Dickinson
- Ashley Williams
- Paul Jones
One by one, each player was welcomed out onto the Edgeley Park at half-time by club president Steve Bellis, with each receiving a big ovation from an emotional crowd in SK3.
For one time only, the team also wore a special, limited edition kit for the game, paying tribute to the club’s formation as Heaton Norris Rovers in 1883! The team went on to beat their Championship opponents 2-0 thanks to goals from Will Collar and Ryan Rydel, making it a perfect day of celebration for our special football club.
