County Christmas Day Twenty One: Jackson Goal Beats Fylde!

With just four more days to go until #CountyChristmas, we take a look at Ben Jackson’s first goal for County, which helped gain revenge over AFC Fylde at Edgeley Park.

Going into the game off the back of a first away win of the season at Wrexham just three days ago, County were looking to avenge last season’s FA Trophy semi-final defeat against the Coasters.

Despite a difficult challenge in store against last season’s National League Play-Off runners up, County got off to the perfect start, as Huddersfield loanee Ben Jackson cut inside before seeing his low drive deflect past the ‘keeper.

Just moments later, and County had doubled their lead – Adam Thomas’ attempted through ball to Elliot Osborne touched into his own net by James Craigen to send Edgeley Park into delirium.

Into the second-half, and County were made to withstand intense pressure from the visitors, who pulled a goal back on the hour mark through Jordan Williams.

Que a tense final few moments for all around Edgeley Park – none more so than when Danny Rowe lined up a free-kick on the edge of the area in stoppage time – but this was to be County’s day. The free-kick hit the wall. The whistle was blown. The points were County’s.
