County introduces ‘The Friendly Bench’

Introducing ‘County’s Friendly Bench’

Stockport County Football Club is thrilled to announce the implementation of a new initiative that aims to combat loneliness and foster community connections: The Friendly Bench. Sponsored by Platform81 and set to launch at the upcoming Sutton United game, this project embodies our commitment to inclusivity and support for our fans, staff, and the community as part of our wider County Collective initiative.

The concept behind the Friendly Bench is simple yet powerful: a dedicated space designed for individuals to sit, inviting conversation and interaction. Positioned on the green verge on Hardcastle road, between the two entries to the car park, these benches, funded by Platform81 and generously provided by John Lewis at a discounted rate, symbolise our dedication to creating a welcoming environment at Edgeley Park.

More than just a place to rest, these benches signify a hub for shared experiences. Supporters and community members are encouraged to gather, share stories, and forge connections, becoming a focal point on matchdays. It’s an opportunity to combat isolation and encourage inclusivity, overseen by our dedicated Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) team.

We’d like to thank Platform81 and John Lewis for their support in making this initiative a reality. We invite everyone to join us at County’s Friendly Bench, creating a space where a simple hello can make a world of difference.
