County launches Weekly Women’s Walking Football Programme

The County Community Trust is delighted to have launched our Women’s Walking Football Programme at Pro Football Arena, Stanley Green Retail Park, Cheadle Hulme, with the first session taking place on Thursday 2nd February.

The sessions for women aged over 45 will run every Thursday from 1pm to 2pm, with no experience required, and all abilities very much welcome.

Through this provision, we aim to make a positive difference in improving people’s health and well-being through providing a multitude of health benefits. There are many psychological and mental health advantages when playing walking football, namely high levels of personal reward and satisfaction, with reduced levels of stress while playing.  As well as being able to increase fitness levels, emotional health gets a great boost too with a boost in self-confidence.

We are sure this will be an extremely popular drop-in activity for the women who come along to take part. Sessions will include some enjoyable physical activity including a gentle warm up and a friendly game of walking football, delivered by qualified County Community Trust coaches. It will also provide opportunities for the members of the group to socialise and make new friends in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment. The programme is as much a social event as a physical activity opportunity, with refreshments provided.

Players will also be given the chance to be part of a team and proudly represent Stockport County in tournaments, have match day trips and ground tours throughout the year.

If you are interested in attending the session or would like further information, please contact our Health and Well-Being Manager, Adrian Rigby-Bates on 0161 266 2700 or via email at [email protected]
