County named finalists in Football Content Awards

We’re pleased to confirm that the Club have been named as finalists in the 2024 Football Content Awards, after being nominated in the Best Football Club – Football League category.

From 1,200 entries, County have been chosen as one of 11 finalists for the award by an esteemed panel of 60 judges. Each nominee has been selected having “excelled in content production, fan engagement, and innovative media strategies, earning their places among the top contenders”.

Our nomination comes as a result of the content produced for the Club’s 140th anniversary celebrations last season, including the launch of an exclusive anniversary kit that paid tribute our origins as Heaton Norris Rovers in 1883.

On our nomination, the FCA said:

“Stockport County FC’s media team has excelled in content production, celebrating the Club’s 140th anniversary with an evocative film produced in collaboration with TrunkBBI. The film, along with other creative initiatives like a limited-edition anniversary kit, showcases Stockport County’s rich history while fostering a strong connection with its community and supporters.”

The winners will be decided by a combination of 50% judge votes and 50% fan votes, with voting available online now. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will take place on 21st November at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

On the nomination, Media & Comms Manager Liam Richardson said:

“The Football Content Awards are extremely prestigious – you only have to look at some of the other clubs nominated for this award to see that. To have been named amongst the finalists for 2024 is testament to our Marketing & Media team for all the hard work that went on behind the scenes to mark such a special year for Stockport County Football Club.

“The limited edition kit itself proved to be extremely popular in terms of sales, whilst our campaign allowed us to celebrate our 140th anniversary in style against Preston North End, with twelve former players representing every decade dating back to the 1960s joining us for an unforgettable and emotional day at Edgeley Park.

“As a team we’re always looking at ways to improve the content that we are producing and take things to the next level, with The Final Five documentary the latest example of that. We have a number of exciting new ideas lined up over the next few months that we hope will continue to bring you closer to the team and the Club.

“It’s great to see the County family represented in other categories too, with The Scarf Bergara Wore podcast also nominated for the Best Football League Podcast award. We look forward to seeing them at the awards ceremony in November.”
