Former Chairman passes away

Stockport County is sad to announce that our former Chairman Norman Beverley has passed away suddenly at the age of 69.

Norman was Chairman for two-and-a-half years after taking the reins when ownership of County was passed to the Supporters Trust by Brian Kennedy. He later stepped down to be replaced by Martin Reid in 2008.

Norman had been heavily involved with County for several years having previously been Chairman of the Stockport County Supporters Trust and the Hatters Independent Supporters Club (HISC).

His proudest moment was seeing County promoted to League One in the Play-Off final victory over Rochdale at Wembley in 2008. He watched his first County match as a child in 1959.

Norman is survived by his wife Linda, children Mark and Gillian and his four grandchildren.

Everyone at Stockport County wishes to pass on their condolences to Norman’s friends and family at this difficult time.
