In the Gym

Our students continued to push themselves in the gym towards the end of the season, which translated to results on the pitch. These sessions were overseen by both our sports rehabilitators and coaches to maximise the students’ performances on the pitch.

Students were given an Individual Plan (IP) at the start of the season, tailored towards their weight, height and body composition. Every student has followed these IP’s closely, and for our first-year students, this will be kept in mind for pre-season as the students return.

Focusing on becoming stronger overall in the last term, the students looked to maintain that strength as the season came to a close. They achieved this by lifting heavier weights for lesser reps, which has helped the students increase their strength and power. This was an extension on last term, as the students wanted to finish the season strongly. Preventing fatigue late in the game is what sets our students aside from their opponents, and that has translated into two league title victories.

The facilities available to our students at Stockport Sports Village are second-to-none, with a gym available to use for free throughout the day, and a private ‘HIVE’ facility used for private sessions. The students also have access to classes at Stockport Sports Village, as well as a studio, giving plenty space to stay match sharp.

Each individual student IP will cover the off-season, ensuring that the students stay in shape for when pre-season comes around in July. This gives each side an advantage over other teams in the league, as the players will enter pre-season with a heightened level of fitness.
