Joe Leesley signs for County!

County have brought in winger Joe Leesley on loan from National League rivals Harrogate Town until January.

Joe, 25, will train with his new team mates this evening and will be available for Saturday’s home clash with Aldershot.

Joe first made the move to Town from Alfreton in 2016, where his performances had earned him a call up to the England ‘C’ squad.

The wide man is blessed with the ability to use both feet, and possesses a wicked set piece delivery that helped him round off an impressive first season at The CNG Stadium with 23 assists and nine goals.

Joe improved on that in his second season at the club, contributing 22 goals and 27 assists in season where he was crowned National League North Player of the Year, and Town won promotion to the National League.

He signed a two-year contract extension in November 2018, tying him to Wetherby Road until 2022.

Manager Jim Gannon said: “I’m delighted to welcome Joe to Edgeley Park. I am a long-time admirer of Joe as a player and professional and I have been very strong in my conviction that he will add significantly to the team in terms of quality and balance in our attack. I think the signing of Joe shows the intent of the club to move to the ‘next level’.

“We are now entering an important stage of the season where I believe we need the addition of one or two signings to enhance the team structure, balance and quality. We have had a very good start but I believe (like last season with the signings of Elliot Osborne and Jamie Stott) we need the added fitness, strength and quality of new full time players to add to the group and ensure that we continue improving and moving forward.”
