Reserve team win a trophy!

It was another hugely successful week for Stockport County Ladies, as the Reserve team were crowned champions of the FAWNL Reserve Plate. In what was the club’s first ever National final at any level, County beat Keynsham Town 1-0 in the final, played at Redditch United, to bring the trophy back to Stockport Sports Village.

A first-half goal from Megan Bradley, on 14 minutes, proved to be the difference between the two sides in a tight and tense cup final against strong opponents. Both teams were fully committed in what was a robust final, and despite County not making the most of good opportunities to extend the lead, the team ethic and work-rate from the girls saw them get over the line, with big celebrations on the final whistle.

Megan Bradley’s goal and overall performance saw her named Player of the Match.

The team were described afterwards as a credit to their coaching staff, which consisted of Manager Rosie Emerson, Assistant Manager Ollie Thomasson, Physio Rachel Dunley and Analyst Josh Woodhouse.

It was also a special moment for centre back, Jess Hill, who was playing in her fourth Cup Final for the Club having joined at just 9 years old. She has played in teams managed by Rosie Emerson throughout her time at Stockport Sports Village, winning trophies at Junior, County, and now, National level. She has also coached our U13s Team for the last four years since they started.
