Ben Atkinson has been confirmed as the match referee for Tuesday night’s League Two fixture between County and Colchester United at the Jobserve Community Stadium.
Atkinson previously refereed County for the one and only time earlier this season, overseeing our 3-1 win over Walsall at Edgeley Park in January. He has taken charge of two Colchester games already this campaign, both of them against AFC Wimbledon in August and December.
The official is currently in his first year as an EFL referee. He took charge of 17 games across the three National League divisions last season, including the National League South Play-Off Final between Oxford City and St Albans City. In that time, he issued 79 yellow cards, five red cards and awarded five penalties.
Across the 26 games Atkinson has officiated so far this season, he has shown 124 yellow cards, nine red cards and given six penalty kicks. His last game was in League Two on Saturday, overseeing AFC Wimbledon’s 1-0 win over Salford City.
The Assistant Referees on Tuesday night will be Adrian Tranter and Paul Lister-Flynn, whilst Paul Kelly will be the Fourth Official.
