Match officials confirmed for New Year’s Day fixture

It has been confirmed that the referee for our Sky Bet League Two fixture against Grimsby Town on New Year’s Day will be Adam Herczeg.

Herczeg has already refereed County once this season, taking charge of our 2-1 defeat away at Stevenage early on in the season. He was promoted to the EFL as a referee over the Summer, having been in the National League last season – his only game involving County during 2021/22 was our 1-0 win at Solihull Moors in December 2021.

In total last season he took charge of 15 games in the league, including the play-off semi-final between Wrexham and Grimsby, issuing 56 yellow cards and no red cards. So far this campaign he has already refereed 18 games in League One (3), League Two (7), the FA Cup (3), Carabao Cup (1) and Papa John’s Trophy (4), showing 51 yellows and two reds – one of which was to Ash Palmer in that defeat at Stevenage.

He will be assisted on the day by Declan Ford and Oliver Bickle, with Matthew McGrath the Fourth Official for this game.
