Referee Sunny Gill has been selected to take charge of Saturday’s League Two fixture between County and Sutton United at Gander Green Lane.
Gill made history earlier this season, becoming the first British South Asian Premier League referee when taking charge of Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Luton Town in March. He has refereed County twice previously, overseeing our 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in September 2022 and our 2-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic this season in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
The official took charge of 31 games in all competitions last season in what was his maiden EFL campaign, during which time he issued 119 yellow cards, three red cards and awarded six penalties.
He has overseen 42 first-team fixtures so far this season, ranging from the Premier League down to League Two, during which time he has shown 151 yellows, six reds and given eight penalty kicks. His last game came in League One on Monday afternoon, refereeing Leyton Orient’s 2-1 defeat at home to Peterborough United.
The Assistant Referees on Saturday will be Scott Williams and Ryan Whitaker, whilst Stephen Finch will be the Fourth Official.
