Match officials named for Papa John’s Trophy tie

The match officials for tonight’s Papa John’s Trophy Group C tie against Wolves U21s have been confirmed, with referee Anthony Backhouse taking charge of the game.

Backhouse last refereed County back in April 2013, a 1-1 draw away at Gateshead in the Blue Square Bet Premier. He has been an EFL referee since 2017 and took charge of 38 games last season, issuing 129 yellow cards and four reds.

So far this season he has refereed seven games – four in League One, two in the Carabao Cup and one in the Papa John’s Trophy, showing 22 yellows and no reds so far.

He will be assisted on the day by Conor Brown and Chris Isherwood, with Scott Jackson the Fourth Official.
