The club can confirm that our Head of Emerging Talent, Joe Monks has left in order to take up a new position as Director of Football at National League side Hartlepool United.
It brings to an end a short spell at Edgeley Park for Monks, who was appointed in July in the important role of overseeing the club’s Emerging Talents Programme, creating a bridge for young players between the academy and the first team.
Joe has helped to oversee the development of several young players over the last few months, but has now decided to take up this new opportunity at Hartlepool – currently sat 6th in the National League after relegation last season.
We thank Joe for his efforts during his time at Edgeley Park and wish him well for this next step in his career.
Director of Football, Simon Wilson said:
“Joe only recently joined this summer and whilst it is a shame to lose his services so early in our development, in his short time here he has helped us establish an operation that is now up and running and set up for the next person to take over. This includes six new signings, loan placements, individualised training programs, accommodation provision, and a national scouting structure.
“I’d like to thank Joe for his efforts in his short time at the club – good luck in the new opportunity at Hartlepool, and I hope you will look back favourably of your time here.
“For the interim, Vinil Joseph who has played a key part in building out the program as part of Joe’s team will be stepping up to manage the program.”
