‘No pressure,’ says new-boy Frank

County’s latest signing Frank Mulhern says he doesn’t feel under any pressure after County paid an undisclosed fee to Guiseley to bring the 21-year-old striker to Edgeley Park.

Frontman Frank has signed a two-year deal with the Hatters and can’t wait to get started: “I know Jim has been tracking my progress for a while and I was very flattered by his interest,” he said. “I was really impressed by County last season when I scored a goal against them playing for Bradford Park Avenue, but with the new additions to the squad there’s no reason why we can’t be challenging at the very top end of the table. I don’t feel any pressure because of the fee, in fact, I’ll thrive on it.”

Frank is also quick to point out that he knows this level well, having enjoyed loan spells with Harrogate, Alfreton and Bradford last season. Frank scored six goals from 15 starts in the National League North last season, including a goal against County when the Hatters earned a dramatic late victory at the Horsfall Stadium. He said: “I’ve got good experience at this level from last season and I can’t wait to get started. Most of all, I can’t wait to play in front of County’s passionate fans, they were unreal at Bradford last season!”

Frank has represented Ireland at Under-19 level and has excellent pedigree, having started his career as a youngster with Leeds United and Huddersfield Town. The pacy front man comes from a sporting family – big brother Robbie plays rugby league for Hull KR.

So what can County fans expect from Frank next season? He told the club’s official website: “I’m a busy, lively attacker with an eye for goal and I like to unsettle defenders. I guess I’d describe myself as a modern-day striker who can play in a variety of systems.” Welcome to Edgeley Park, Frank!
